Born in Ashanti Bekwai, Ghana, in 1984, Michael began drawing at the age of six. He trained under Sherif in Nima, Accra, and completed a National Diploma in Fine Art at Ghanatta College of Art and Design in 2000.
Founder of Ashanti Media Gallery, his practice moves between Ghana and South Africa. His work explores African heritage, spirituality, Pan-African identity, leadership, memory and the relationship between tradition and the future through painting, sculpture, collage, mixed media and cinematic storytelling.
Michael is also the creator of The Golden Path Universe, a multidisciplinary African story world connecting original fine art, sacred objects, books, film, education and interactive storytelling.
